This speech is Project 6 “Vocal Variety” from Basic Communicator Manual. The objectives of this speech are:

• Use voice volume, pitch, rate and quality to reflect adn add meaning and interest to your message.
• Use pauses to enhance your message.
• Use vocal variety smoothly and naturally.

The timing for the presentation is 5-7 mins.

I got the idea of the this speech topic after reading the book “Search” by… This book is about how Google founders started the revolutionary internet search engine and changed the world ever since. I was very inspired by the Google story, so I decided to speak on it. However, in hindsight, I felt this was not a good speech topic for vocal variety. This was more a “speaking to inform” type of speech. A good vocal variety topic should be one that stretch your vocal variety from fast pace to slow, loud to soft, high to low pitch.

This speech was presented at the Achiever Day and the evaluator was Ong Chuan Aik. This was the first time I spoke outside the club environment.

读高中的时候，我的一位同学和物理老师因为某事起了争执。最后，他还和那位老师打赌，说能让陀螺在空中旋转！经过二十多年弃而不舍的钻研和反复不断的实验，他终于完成，那人人都认为是不可能的任务。从古至今，许多伟人如发明家爱迪生，政治家成吉思汗等，就是凭着这股“誓不低头”的精神，排除万难步向成功之道而流芳百世。
